These pieces are near and dear to my heart, they have each moved me in some way that I had to get them out to share.
Some are acrylic on paper, others are recycled magazines on car parts. All are unique, and have been a fun exersize for me to explore my craft and hone my skills with each medium.
WARNING: The production of Collage art works prior to 2018 may include pieces from adult content.
The collage works that I create utilize all types of magazines that otherwise would end up in the landfill. Prior to 2017/2018 All the pieces I cut up from all types of magazines, that I have been given and collected, have gone into one “palette” that I would draw my colors from. I look at each tiny piece for its color and value, NOT its content photographically.
The interest in the works, tends to lend itself to looking at each piece very close up after realizing what it is made from. There may be a ½” triangle that appears to be a naked woman, but it could in fact be the arm of a beige sofa turned sideways. Our minds fill in where it wants and will see what it wants to see.
This is what makes art so interesting and not anything a machine can replicate. My mind sees color and shadow and yours may see an eye, or the curve of a hip
In 2017 I started creating works that were utilizing a magazine that was relevant to the piece, ie., a horse painting would use Equestrian Times as its palette, as well as an automobile inspired piece would use Car and Driver. Some modern automotive and motorcycle, as well as GQ and other men’s magazines also have scantily clad women in prone positions. Its not just adult publications.
I assure you it is NOT a joke that’s like FIND WALDO and see the hidden nudie pic. But feel free to try.
I hope you enjoy the work. Thank you for looking.
